Your Role
As a Support Worker at Bowral Youth Refuge, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Working closely with Case Workers, you’ll help implement client-centered plans that foster recovery, resilience, and stability. This is a meaningful opportunity to provide the guidance and support young people need to grow, thrive, and gain independence. Your Responsibility
- Assist in the entry and assessment of new clients, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
- Provide a safe, welcoming environment for all clients, fostering trust and dignity.
- Support clients by offering casework assistance in collaboration with Case Workers.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with external agencies as needed.
- Perform various tasks including serving meals, supervising activities, transporting clients, and managing accommodation-related duties.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and the daily Communications Book.
You Will Need
- If interested in part-time vacancy must have availability to work the following rotating roster:
- Week 1: Monday 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM, Friday 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Sleepover Shift), Saturday 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM. Week 2: Monday 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM, Friday 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM, Saturday 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM, Sunday 8:45 AM – 5:15 PM.
- Relevant Certificate, equivalent experience, or current enrolment in tertiary studies in a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Sound judgement and the ability to remain calm in crisis or emergency situations.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- A compassionate, non-judgmental attitude towards clients and staff, with a strong commitment to ethical conduct.
- Drivers Licence.
