Your Role

As Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding the Society’s financial integrity and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with the Financial Controller and the broader Finance Directorate, you’ll deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain strong controls and provide insights that help maximise impact for the people and communities we serve. This is a hands on role suited to a technically strong accountant who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, improving processes and working in a purpose driven environment.

Your Responsibility

  • Supporting delivery of the Society’s Strategic Plan through strong financial stewardship
  • Preparing and supporting monthly financials, balance sheet reconciliations and reporting
  • Providing timely, accurate financial data and insights to support strategic and operational decisions
  • Assisting with budgets, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and managing delegations of authority
  • Ensuring effective financial controls, policies and procedures are in place
  • Leading compliance with internal and external financial control frameworks and regulatory obligations
  • Partnering with senior leaders and finance stakeholders to provide accounting and finance expertise
  • Supporting continuous improvement across finance systems, controls and processes
  • Contributing to effective risk management, governance and workplace health and safety practices

You Will Need

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting (or similar) and CPA or CA membership
  • Experience using large accounting systems (e.g. Business Central or similar)
  • Strong technical accounting capability across reporting, AP/AR and asset management
  • The ability to analyse financial data and translate it into clear, meaningful insights
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and senior stakeholders

Ideally, you’ll also have experience in the NFP or membership based sector, with an understanding of the financial drivers that support community and volunteer led services
