Your Role
As a Senior Payroll Officer, you’ll be a key player within our Finance directorate, supporting the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely payroll services across the organisation. You’ll bring your expertise to both day-to-day operations and exciting system transformation projects, while mentoring others and driving continuous improvement. This is more than just payroll, it’s an opportunity to influence processes, support strategic initiatives and partner with stakeholders across the business.
Your Responsibility
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, every time
- Oversee superannuation payments and support month-end and year-end processes
- Maintain and reconcile payroll data, including journals and general ledger entries
- Monitor and audit payroll transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Generate reports and respond to payroll and workplace relations queries
- Maintain compliance with fringe benefits and meal entertainment requirements
- Support organisational structure updates, including creating and maintaining positions
- Mentor and support Payroll Officers, building capability within the team
- Play a key role in the implementation of a new payroll system
- Collaborate across Finance, People & Culture, and leadership teams to support informed decision making
- Contribute to a safe, compliant and high performing work environment
You Will Need
You’re a payroll professional who combines technical expertise with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset. You’re confident working with complex data, enjoy improving systems and processes, and know how to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
You’ll bring:
- 5+ years payroll experience, including strong hands-on experience
- Tech and system savvy - you should mention system experience in your application
- Solid understanding of Awards, EBAs, and payroll compliance requirements
- Strong accounting knowledge, including reconciliations and journal processing
- Experience auditing payroll data and maintaining data integrity
- Knowledge of fringe benefits and associated processes
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills
- A high level of discretion when handling confidential information
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and partner effectively
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
