Your Role

The Team Leader, Metro, provides operational leadership, support and guidance to Vinnies Support Centre (VSC) Coordinators across the Metro region, under the direction of the Regional Director. This is an independent leadership role requiring sound judgement, initiative and strong people leadership. The role is responsible for improving the quality, consistency and coordination of VSC service delivery, while supporting staff, members and volunteers to provide effective assistance to people seeking support from the Society.

 

The role is required to:

 

• Provide effective leadership, support and guidance to staff, members and volunteers across the region to enable them to continue fulfilling the Society’s mission of providing care and support to people in need.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships to support effective referrals, service coordination and access to specialist services for the people we assist.

Your Responsibility

• Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and guidance to VSC Coordinators across the Metro region within MVRO.
• Support the Regional Director to implement the Society’s Strategic Plan within the VSC team.
• Exercise sound judgement and operate with appropriate autonomy in leading local service delivery, escalating risks and issues where required.
• Foster a service culture characterised by partnership, collaboration, accountability and respect within the team, across the Service, and with stakeholders, members, volunteers and clients.
• Support staff to deliver client-focused, socially inclusive, non-judgemental and empowering support, underpinned by best practice principles.
• Support and assist clients in a way that promotes independence, empowerment and sustainable outcomes.
• Check the work of VSC Coordinators in CAMS to ensure staff are making effective use of Society resources and assisting people who are most in need.
• Maintain and update information on client databases, including supporting the effective use of CAMS.
• Ensure VSC Coordinator and client interactions are appropriately documented.
• Be involved in continuous quality improvement activities, including accreditation, safeguarding, and the review of policies and procedures.
• Understand budget parameters and, where appropriate, identify and present strategies for improvement.
• Provide written reports and data on activities as requested by the Regional Director.
• Work collaboratively with the Vinnies Vans program and other key internal stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and support for people accessing Society services.
• Support the St Joseph’s Workshop, including coordination, communication and practical assistance to ensure its ongoing operation and effectiveness.
• Support members and volunteers to carry out their work, including responding to volunteering enquiries, providing guidance, and ensuring relevant compliance, safeguarding and reporting requirements are met.

You Will Need

  • Cert 4 certificate and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a staff supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in management positions in a human services environment, particularly with the development and delivery of outcome focused services.
  • Sound knowledge of the specific service industry requirements to support clients experiencing disadvantage.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel regularly across the Sydney Metro, visiting and supporting worksites.
  • NSW driver license.
