Your Role
The Case Worker plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and other forms of disadvantage. Working within the Vinnies Services Directorate, the role provides person-centred, strengths-based support to help clients achieve greater stability, independence and wellbeing. The Case Worker engages with vulnerable people through outreach, assessment, case management, advocacy and service coordination, ensuring clients are connected to appropriate housing, health, education and community support services. The role contributes to positive client outcomes through the delivery of high-quality, respectful and trauma-informed support.
Your Responsibility
- Engage with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and undertake client intake and assessment processes.
- Develop, implement and review case plans to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Provide information, advocacy, referrals and practical support to address client needs.
- Conduct outreach and home visits as required.
- Support clients to access housing, health, education, employment and community services.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations and provide immediate support where required.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes, data and reporting requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, community organisations and other service providers.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for clients, staff, volunteers and visitors.
- Support service delivery, administrative activities, program targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and professional development activities.
You Will Need
- Certificate IV or higher qualification in Community Services, Welfare, Social Work or a related discipline, or currently undertaking relevant tertiary studies.
- Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity or other complex social challenges.
- Knowledge of issues impacting vulnerable and marginalised communities, including mental health, alcohol and other drugs, family breakdown and social disadvantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound administrative and computer skills, including case management systems and record keeping.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively in crisis situations.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
