Your Role

 

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Case Worker to provide trauma informed, therapeutic support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This role is about helping individuals and families stabilise their accommodation, rebuild their wellbeing and move towards long term security. 

 

Your Responsibility

 

  • Provide trauma informed and non judgemental case work support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness

  • Case manage clients in accommodation to support stability and positive outcomes

  • Undertake home visits and outreach activities

  • Develop, implement and review case plans in line with SHS guidelines and outcomes frameworks

  • Build strong partnerships with government agencies, NGOs and local services

  • Maintain accurate and professional client records, case notes and data

  • Meet service targets and reporting requirements

  • Supervise volunteers and students on placement where required

  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to a safe working environment

You Will Need

 

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study in welfare or a related field

  • Experience supporting marginalised and vulnerable people, including those experiencing homelessness

  • Strong understanding of issues impacting homelessness such as family breakdown, domestic and family violence, poverty, disability, mental illness and addiction

  • Knowledge of local community services and the ability to build effective professional relationships

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound computer skills and accurate record keeping

  • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis and emergency situations

  • Understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and safe work practices

  • NSW driver licence
