Your Role

 

Diverse and rewarding role providing essential support to individuals and families facing homelessness—particularly women and children escaping domestic violence and crisis situations. You’ll work across the St George & Sutherland region, offering practical assistance, advocacy, and compassionate care to help people rebuild their lives. You’ll be part of a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative team that values continuous learning and professional growth.

 

 

Your Responsibility

 

  • Engage & Support – Connect with individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness, providing them with guidance, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
  • Assess & Plan – Conduct initial intakes and assessments to identify needs and develop tailored support plans.
  • Empower Clients – Offer practical assistance, information, and referrals to essential services such as housing, health, and legal support.
  • Community Outreach – Undertake home visits and provide on-site support at our refuges, ensuring clients feel safe and supported.
  • Collaborate & Advocate – Build strong relationships with local community services, government agencies, and NGOs to create better outcomes for clients.
  • Ensure Best Practice – Maintain accurate records, uphold client rights, and apply a respectful, non-judgmental approach in all interactions.

You Will Need

 

  • A minimum Cert IV in Welfare, Community Services, or a related field (or currently studying towards one).
  • Experience working with vulnerable and marginalised communities, particularly those facing homelessness, domestic violence, or complex needs.
  • Knowledge of key issues such as family breakdown, mental health, and addiction, and how they impact homelessness.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to connect with clients and collaborate with service providers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • A valid NSW Driver’s License.
