Your Role

 

Exciting opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the homelessness and housing sector. Working closely with our dedicated team, you will be supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This rewarding paid placement will open doors to gaining new skills and help unlock a great potential career with Vinnies. You will be joining a supportive and inclusive team, where you can contribute meaningfully to the community and make a real difference to people's lives

 

 

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Directly support members of the community in a meaningful, inclusive, and impactful way.
  • Ensure a safe, welcoming environment and assist clients with daily needs, service rules, and engagement in activities and programs.
  • Keep accurate, professional client records and provide up-to-date, practical support and information tailored to client needs.
  • Assist with case work and actively help clients implement their case plans, advocating for their needs with external agencies when required.
  • Manage client and visitor flow while ensuring safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
  • Uphold service standards, meet targets, and contribute to continuous improvement.

You Will Need

 

  • Be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander  *The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW considers that being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as authorised under section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
  • Studying any Community Services or Health Course that requires a practical placement. 
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to gain a first aid certificate.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain an ethical, non-judgmental, attitude towards clients and staff, and commitment to this
