Your Role

 

As the Vinnies Van Service Assistant, you will coordinate effective and efficient operation of the Vinnies Van Services (Illawarra and/or South West Sydney) and the associated support activities, including volunteer coordination. This position is a casual role and apart of this we will require the successful applicant to have the ability to work flexible hours as necessary and to cover shifts as required.

Your Responsibility

  • Ensure that the operations of the service comply with the policies and procedures of the service, the St Vincent de Paul Society and relevant government regulations including WHS and Food Handling standards. 
  • Support the van program operations, including food shopping in consultation with kitchen volunteers, coordinating food donations, re-stocking the van after each service and completing service reports. 
  • Provide assistance in managing and coordinating a team of kitchen and van volunteers to deliver services and support for the program. 
  • Work with other team members and stakeholders collaboratively in a manner that encourages teamwork and a commitment to an overall positive organisational culture. 
  • Assist in ensuring a safe working environment for staff, members and volunteers by implementing the Society’s workplace health and safety practices. 

You Will Need

  • Relevant experience in Community Services or related field. 
  • Previous administrative experience including the use of Microsoft Office Products. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication and relationship management skills 
  • Sound organisational skills. 
  • Ability to effectively manage volunteers. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WH&S and Food Handling requirements
