Your Role

 

The Ozanam Learning Centre (OLC) in Woolloomooloo is a longstanding community centre that provides opportunities for community members and people experiencing disadvantage to connect, learn, participate in activities, and access support. This one of Vinnies’ flagship community inclusion hubs and is a dynamic and creative environment.

As the Centre Coordinator, you will be the key person for day-to-day operations of the centre and all necessary coordinating activities. We are looking for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, is exceptionally thorough and attentive to detail, and enjoys a broad range of tasks and responsibilities. You will also be someone who has a passion for social justice, is empathetic, and able to relate well with people often coming from a challenging background.

Your Responsibility

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations for the Ozanam Learning Centre, including coordinating programs and activities that ensure that consumer voice is reflected.
  • Ensure compliance with a range of standards, policies safety measures that are in place and be able to identify any gaps in these and create aligned procedures.
  • Develop and coordinate social engagement activities that are informed by evidence and the inputs from community members.
  • Ensure rigorous data capture and reporting that contribute to continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement promotion strategies for our centre-based and outreach activities
  • Liaise and coordinate with many internal and external stakeholders that input into operations and social engagement activities

You Will Need

  • Relevant qualification/s and / or demonstrated experience in community services and / or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people who experience disadvantage due to homelessness, the impact of trauma, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug issues and / or unemployment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating a multidisciplinary space
  • High level computer literacy and time management skills.
  • Ability to confidently apply de-escalation strategies in high conflict situations.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to be assertive.
