  • Part time: 22.8 hours per week, some flexibility on days
  • SCHCADS Award: hourly rates range from $44.58 - $47.97 (depending on experience)  
  • Location: Greater Sydney Region | Woolloomooloo, Redfern, Bankstown, Campbelltown and surrounding communities

Your Role

 

An exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening communities across Greater Sydney region. As a Community Development Coordinator you will work closely with local residents, community organisations, government and internal teams to design and deliver initiatives that respond to community priorities. This includes facilitating events, programs and projects that bring people together, strengthen social networks and build community capacity. This is a dynamic and hands-on role that combines project coordination, stakeholder engagement and community facilitation.

Your Responsibility

 

  • Implement community initiatives using asset-based community development approaches that support broader service outcomes

  • Build strong relationships with local residents, organisations and stakeholders to identify community needs and opportunities

  • Facilitate activities, events and projects that promote social inclusion and strengthen community connections

  • Identify and develop new partnerships while strengthening existing collaborations

  • Promote activities delivered through the Ozanam Learning Centre and develop strategies that increase community participation and referrals

  • Coordinate evaluation, feedback and data collection processes to measure participation and support continuous improvement

  • Contribute to broader community development activities across the organisation when required

  • Maintain safe work practices and contribute to risk management and compliance requirements

You Will Need

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in community development, social work, community services, education programs or a related field

  • Strong understanding of community development principles, including asset-based approaches

  • Experience supporting people experiencing social exclusion, including homelessness, trauma, mental health challenges, alcohol and other drug issues or unemployment

  • Experience coordinating programs, events or activities within community settings

  • Project and event management skills, including budget coordination and working with volunteers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, negotiate and resolve conflict

  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Confident computer skills and ability to manage data and reporting

  • Current driver licence and access to a vehicle
