Volunteer Engagement Worker

The Volunteer Engagement Worker will support the work of the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator in the recruitment, engagement and retention of volunteers in the Disability Inclusion Team in NSW, and provide coordination and administration support to the Vinnies Connect Program; a mentoring program which offers individuals experiencing isolation to be able to meet regularly with a caring, friendly volunteer, to undertake activities in the community.

Your Role
We're looking for a passionate and organised Volunteer Engagement Worker to help grow and support our volunteer community within the Disability Inclusion Team and Vinnies Connect Program—a mentoring program that brings companionship to those experiencing isolation. You'll assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention, while ensuring volunteers feel valued and connected. You'll also provide key admin and coordination support, helping our services thrive through the power of volunteering.
Your Responsibility

Support volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention in the Disability Inclusion Team

Assist with coordination and admin for the Vinnies Connect mentoring program

Help services build and sustain their volunteer workforce

Identify volunteer recruitment pathways and advertise opportunities

Manage onboarding, including interviews, screening, and training

Ensure volunteer compliance with police checks, WWCC, and NDIS requirements

Monitor completion of mandatory online training

Conduct regular volunteer check-ins to support satisfaction and retention

Provide volunteer recognition (e.g. thank-you notes, holiday/birthday messages)

Close volunteer records and conduct exit interviews as needed
You Will Need

Experience or qualifications in community development, social work or similar

Great people skills and a knack for motivating others

Strong organisational, time management, and technology skills

A collaborative, can-do attitude
